Digital Art Poe-a-tree

Roy Durham posted an open invitation last week to bloggers to write a verse for the Poe-a-tree Blog. The below bloggers responded with a stanza each. The entrants had fun and received terrific comments.  I received another invitation from Roy to add photo images for each stanza of the entries.

Here are the poems, a link to each entrant, and my digital art images to match each poem.

Oh how peaceful this time is for me.
Standing here on the beach, the breeze blowing thru my hair and the tide to my knee.
My only wish is that you were here to enjoy this time with me.

I look out into the sea...
and see infinite beauty surrounding me...
where sky and men converge
into ONE vast reality...
and hope rises like sea bubbles
reaching ....
beckoning me to
embark in a ceaseless journey
embracing life
à bras ouverts

I pause at the ocean’s edge
Open to my fate
The horizon looks unreachable
And totally unbreachable
Should I swim out and trust in fate
Are you my gentle wave or my riptide

raging waves of emotion,
washed away by salty tears,
power of the beauty within

Eyes close
the touch of a salty breeze
caresses
in come the tide
out goes the tide
my heart and lungs
soon calm to match it

Natural energy fills
my entire being
yet another connection
to the world
as a whole is discovered
internalized

I am calm
and reflect
timeless thoughts
like the tides
rolling in

I saw the waves rushing towards me,
calling my name and beckoning me.
'Come play with us, feel our love,
walk into our arms', they cajoled me.

They looked deceptively harmless,
and promised to keep me company.
I wanted to belong,
so I ignored the voice of reason,
and walked into the loving arms,
of the frothing waves of love and care.

Their soothing touch comforted me,
I felt a tingling in my toes.
the sand shifted from underneath,
I felt my entire world move.

Standing here looking out at the abyss of time,
Hearing the dyeing rasp of moments pasted
Looking out at hues of blue a ribbon twine
Sands of time chasseing rainbows via waves that splash

The future and the pasted the moment linger here
White top cream of dreams comes by the sevens
My soul rides the foaming firth to find a way to heavens
But touching earth I linger here my foot print disappear

The dreams restrained washed at my feet
Pushing back yet pulling forth
Have I taking root my toes have found a seat
Foaming cream of dreams a tingling broth

Twilight on Ocean shore stars twinkle amongst slumbers snore
Wakening fracture of dreams as do pass
The loom of the moon sews dancing sprites along the shore
Precious thoughts wane and soar of dreams love valor and more

This was a lovely experience, reading each stanza and watching how each personality meshed with the group at large.  The photos were the final touch to weave it all together into a rich tapestry.  Creativity at its finest!

Mari, I repeat the comments that your photography is uniquely beautiful.  Your perspective is so much deeper than I tend to notice with many photographers and I appreciate that you focus on minute details, go that extra mile, and as a result, capture magic with your lens.  I always enjoy visiting here and will continue to do so. :)

Namaste',
Dawn

The images add so much to the words, they really bring the words to life. Great job combining the two formats, it works very nicely!! :)

Mari, you have tied it all together so beautifully with
these exquisite images.   I’d be hard pressed to say which one is my favorite.  They are all stories in and of themselves,
and I’d love to see the reverse side of the coin, where the writing is inspired
by the images.  I know you’ve inspired
me.    Bravo!

Mari I have always felt that combining visual with the written word is a very powerful combination. I agree with Dawn...you bring the two modalities together beautifully, bringing a depth that can not exist without the other....a new perspective within the arts. Always such a joy to be here...

Mari Sterling Wilbur said...

Thank you! I value your comments very much so this means a great deal to me.

Mari I took this at the top of the Terraces at Mammoth Springs in Yellowstone Park.It is one of the Thermal Pools...we climbed about 450 stairs from 6000 ft elevation to 7000 ft elevation in about 95 degree weather...but in my opinion worth it. Happy you enjoyed the photo...always love to share with you...and I now think of you when I take my shots...

WOW! Gorgeous, gorgeous images Mari, perfectly matching the poetry. What an amazing post. Awe-inspiring x

Mari Sterling Wilbur said...

Wow - the photo was definitely worth it but that's a lot of hiking in that heat!! I love Yellowstone. I'm complimented that you think of me.

Would you like to be a guest photographer for my next post? I will let you know what it is about once I get it outlined. I may have a couple of other people who also submit photos, I'm not sure yet. I think it will be fun to have others submit photos. :D

Stunning! I love the mist over the water - it makes the photo very mysterious and not your everyday sunrise photo.  Using the two trees to frame the sun makes a great composition.

Mari Sterling Wilbur said...

Thank you - I'm so glad you are back and getting settled.
